If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone to buy this Holiday, look no further because I’m sure you’ll love ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser!
There are two kinds of Zenfone 2 Laser to choose from: Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 (ZE500KL) and Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 (ZE550KL)
I am lucky to get my hands on the two models.
Here’s the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 in Gold. The package comes with the unit, USB cable, wall charger and earpods.
The Laser 5.0 sports a 5 inch screen, 1280×720 HD resolution with ASUS TrueVivid Screen Lamination Technology which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 that is twice as strong as any other glass in the market. It also uses 64-Bit MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 CPU (MSM8916) for its processor and 2GB RAM.
The 5mp front camera is not good in low light so I suggest that you take selfies outdoor. However, the 8mp laser auto-focus camera with large f/2.0 aperture is good for indoor shots especially on outdoor. Plus, you don’t have to rely on photo editing apps to make your photos look nice.
Unlike other smartphones, the volume is situated at the back of the Zenfone 2 Laser. The plastic backplate has a matte metallic finish which makes it easier to hold.
I got the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 in Red. Same with the Laser 5.0, the package comes with the unit, USB cable, wall charger and earpods.
Almost everything is the same with the Laser 5.5 aside from the body, 5.5inch screen, camera, sensors and battery.
The only difference is that the Laser 5.5 upgraded its rear camera with a 13MegaPixel with large f/2.0-aperture, 5-element auto-focus lens/Laser Auto Focus for 0.3 second focus time – both models have the same Dual LED Real Tone Flash for perfect lighting.
The Laser 5.5 is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery, while the 5.0 has only a 2,070mAh battery. Despite the lower battery capacity of the Laser 5.0, it can also last a whole day even if the data is turned on.
To put it into perspective, the Laser 5.0 and 5.5 are just like the Apple iPhone 6 and 6s: if you’re into photography, the Laser 5.5 is perfect for you, but if you want more compact and more pocket friendly smartphone, then go for the Laser 5.0. If you ask me, I prefer the former since I love taking pictures and it’s better for gaming! (NBA2k16!!!)
Here are some photos taken by the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 during the ASUS Photo Walk event last month:
And during our trip to Mt.Pulag using the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5:
These two are my favorites:
